Is there such a thing as being happy, even when all seems bad? We hear all the cliche quotes such as “stay positive” or “fake it til you make it”, but how exactly do we “stay” positive and happy? And will there ever come a time in our lives when we don’t have to fake it? It seems we try our hardest to suppress feelings and emotions, and work our brain to stay focused on what’s good in our lives, but sometimes we don’t have the strength to do that – no matter how hard we try. So, how do we continue to stay strong when we are weak?

Honestly, I have no ‘positive’ quotes to give you, and I have no wisdom of my own. The true source of happiness and joy is in Jesus Christ, because He is happiness and joy. The fluffy, feel good sayings in life can make us feel good for a moment and sure, they may sustain us for a while, but these words fade away. Why? Because human beings are flawed, therefore, so is our wisdom and knowledge. What we need are living words, unflawed and perfect – just like Christ. He is perfect and never lies. He is true and powerful, and words that flow from His mouth are alive and enough to help you change your life. In my own times of struggle and worry, I look to what He’s already said in His Word. I can try to fight with my own “positive thinking” (and trust me, I have tried), but after a while it fails. I only find when I keep my mind on the words of Christ and open my mouth to speak them, do I overcome my battles.

We will always be faced with opposition, battles, conflict, and so on, but there is a way to still have joy and happiness within your heart, and that’s through Christ alone. Only He has the power and strength to fill you with true, never-fading hope, joy, and happiness. I will list some scriptures below, and I hope this helps anyone who may struggle with depression, sadness, or finding joy. Please feel free to message me anytime if you need someone to talk to.

  • “But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31
  • “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lordforever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.” Isaiah 26:3-4
  • “Whoever gives thought to the word will discover good, and blessed is he who trusts in the Lord.” Proverbs 16:20

in the pit of my stomach lies a paradise of butterflies made by you. when I see your face and smell your scent, I fight to hide my smile, and hope the blush of my cheeks quickly fade away. when you are gone, they fall to sleep; but when you return, they fly and fly. […]

I am not memorabilia. You can not keep bits and pieces of me. I will not have my treasures scattered about the earth and oceans. the only memory you will have is when I say goodbye.

How much time do we spend scrolling through social media gazing and coveting after someone else’s life, looks, material items, sense of fashion, home, and much more? How often do we fall deeper into disliking our own lives and wishing we had someone else’s? Too often (may I add that I am soooooo guilty!) We […]

The other day I had posted something on Instagram saying that abortion was wrong, and how it’s sad that our culture values the lives of animals more than the lives of a human being. Someone posted a comment, disagreeing, and we continued this discussion for about 30 minutes or so. During our convo, I said, […]
