people say she’s beautiful all the time;
when she goes home, she walks over
to the mirror to find what they see in her.
is it the shine of her eyes or the tone of her skin?
is it the way she smiles, or the shape of her face?
she looks for the beauty they see in her, but she can’t seem to find it. is it really there?
and then the saying that has been said throughout history arises in her mind,
“it’s not what’s on the outside, but what’s on the inside.”
but how? how does inward beauty appear outwardly? and then it comes to her:
She is beauty because beauty created her.
She reminds herself that she was created in God’s image – how is that not beautiful?¬†Everything He is, so she is.
The love, care, kindness, courage, boldness, and beauty that He is, so she is.
The value that He sees in her is what everyone sees as well.
He created all things beautiful, so why not her?
He sees the green grass and blue sky as perfect, needing nothing to enhance its beauty, and He thinks the same of her.
Every trait of her character and personality that is wise, intelligent, pure, and innocent is beautiful.
Her beauty does come from the inside, and seeps through the space of her smile,
the pores of her skin, and each blink of her eyes.
It drips from the top of her head to the soles of her feet, and that is what people see.
